Marlborough in Bloom is following advice on coronavirus from the RHS and Jon Wheatley, Chairman of South West in Bloom. The threat from the pandemic is now so serious that very sadly there will be no regional and national Britain in Bloom competitions this year.
In the light of the latest government edict on more rigorous isolation, all Marlborough in Bloom activities are therefore suspended until further government instructions.
Jon Wheatley writes: "I am anxious that we try to keep in contact with you all. If you have examples of ideas, initiatives and community developments that you are undertaking please let us know and we will recognise them.
We had a tremendous response again this year for the IYN's. We are currently working with the RHS and there may be a possibility for some communities to be assessed later in the year, perhaps August or September.
With all schools being closed we have had to cancel any school IYN's for 2020, but we look forward to you returning in 2021."
This year Marlborough has entered twelve IYN's demonstrating the variety and strength of our gardening communities. In these fearful times let us continue to promote the benefits of horticulture and gardening, encourage everyone to grow fruit and vegetables and help to improve the environment.
